The effectiveness of a high school executive team is vital and central to improving learning outcomes and welfare of students at schools. Specifically, the effectiveness of senior executive (Principal and Deputy Principal) is critical in leading and managing the school as a whole. Whereas the effectiveness of other members of the executive team (e.g. Head Teachers) is inevitable and important due to their accountability to the Principal for the provision of leadership in their specific curriculum area. Therefore, to be able to effectively lead schools in the 21st Century, school leaders must possess a very fine blend of leadership attributes and be equipped with necessary skills and values to meet leadership challenges of the 21st Century.
To enable high school executives to become more effective leaders and bring change to their schools, the E-LEAD Centre of Excellence is creating a contemporary “Leadership Masterclass” program. The “Leadership Masterclass” is designed to provide experienced and emerging high school executives with an opportunity to sharpen their leadership skills and to invigorate their personal vision of leadership. The program also presents a rare opportunity for education leaders to network, share ideas, address specific challenges and opportunities and work together to develop collaborative strategies. Over the course of program, participants will interact with experienced executive coaches and consultants to reflect, refocus and recharge to meet with the personal and professional challenges and for greater impact. Based on our demonstrated leadership training for professionals, the approach employed is immersive and dynamic with peer-to-peer interaction, collaborative sessions and reflective learning opportunities.
